PACKWOOD --- Edna Vera STEPHENSON AVERY, 91, former resident of Packwood, died at 4:45 p.m. Monday at the Ramsey Home in Des Moines where she was a resident.
Services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Packwood United Methodist Church with the Rev. Naomi Locke and the Rev. Don Harbour officiating. Burial will be in the Packwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the Raymond Funeral Home Wednesday from 7-8 p.m.
Edna Vera STEPHENSON AVERY was born Aug. 17, 1887, south of Packwood. She was the daughter of Marion and Elizabeth Susanna WHITSON STEPHENSON. She was reared and educated in Jefferson County and was a member of the Packwood Methodist Church.
She was married November 30, 1907, to Sam NELSON at Packwood. They were the parents of four sons, Paul, Olatha, Kan.; Arvene and Harold, both of Des Moines, one son is deceased. Her husband died May 29, 1920.
She was married to Edward AVERY Sept. 27, 1924, at Mount Pleasant. To them was born a daughter, Betty Jo PETERS, Fairfield. AVERY died Dec. 5, 1968.
Mrs. AVERY is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; a step-daughter, Violet BLUCHER, Hedrick; one step-grandson and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, one grandson and two great-grandchildren.
