Roy H. FORD

Roy H. FORD, 91, longtime Milton resident, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2011, at Crestview Manor in Crestview, Fla.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. The body has been cremated. Burial, with mlitary rites by American Legion Russell-Strait Post, will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Milton.

Family visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorials to the Russell-Strait Post may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 4129 Millside Road, Laurel Hill, FL 32567.

Mr. FORD was born Jan. 6, 1920, in Moravia, the son of Harry Howard and Goldie P. KNAPP FORD. He married Clarice Rosemary LANCASTER in November 1958 in Ottumwa. She died May 16, 2010.

Mr. FORD served in the United States Army and United States Air Force for a total of 26 years. He worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown and had been the Van Buren County Veterans Affairs Commissioner.

Mr. FORD was a member of Milton Christian Church, having served in a variety of capacities. He was a 50-year member of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons Celestial Lodge No. 413 of Douds and was a past patron of Order of Eastern Star Twin City Chapter No. 258 of Douds. He was a past commander and longtime adjutant of American Legion Russell-Strait Post No. 483 of Milton.

Survivors include one son, Martin FORD of Cherry Valley Ark.; one daughter, Deborah S. T,HOMAS (sic) and husband Dean of Laurel Hill, Fla.; one brother, Rex FORD of Ottumwa; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Viola ROMINGER and Sally June SCHIERMEIER; and one brother, Edwin FORD.
