Clifton Neal MECK

Clifton Neal MECK, 83, of 1604 Ivy Ave., died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at his home.

The funeral is planned for 2 p.m. Monday at Behner Funeral Home, with Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Family visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Heart Association. Online condolences

Mr. MECK was born May 5, 1922, in Birmingham, the son of Raymond Henry and Harriet Jane LYON MECK. He married Geneva C. SPANIER YODER Nov. 29, 1952, in Kahoka, Mo.

Mr. MECK lived in the Birmingham area from 1922-1947 when he moved to his most recent residence in Jefferson County. He retired from farming in 1983.

Mr. MECK served in the U. S. Coast Guard.

Mr. MECK's pastimes were fishing, hunting and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Geneva; James YODER of Thailand; Donald Ray YODER and wife Betty of Diamond Bar, Calif.; Shirley Marie WHITMER and husband Harold of Peoria, Ill.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Leona Anderson HOLDER of Des Moines.

In additon to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Lyle, Bill, Donald, Harold, Joe and Dale and one grandson.

Friday's obituary for Clifton Neal MECK should have included one sister, Edna CRAFTON, who preceded him in death.
