Ellen Elizabeth MECK

Ellen Elizabeth MECK, 79, of Fairfield died at 4:40 a.m. today, Friday, July 7, 2000, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The body was cremated. A private family service will be held at a later date. Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials to Word of Life Church Youth Group can be mailed to Nancy MECK at 2603 Hawthorne St., Fairfield, IA 52556.

Mrs. MECK was born Jan. 31, 1922 (sic - 1921), in Keota, the daughter of George and Mary DILLON CRAWFORD. She married Wesley Wayne MECK Dec. 28, 1951. He died Feb. 29, 1980.

Mrs. MECK lived most of her life in the Fairfield community. She attended Parsons College to earn her teacher's certification. She was a homemaker and a rural school teacher at Valley and Talleyrand rural schools near Keota.

She was a member of the Word of Life Church in Bloomfield.

Survivors include two daughters, Nancy L. MECK of Bangor, Maine, and Mary WATTS of Thief River Falls, Minn.; one sister, Margory HENDERSON of Des Moines; and two grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, David, Walter, George, and Omer Crawford.
