Saturday, 8 March 1975Death Takes Mrs. DAVIS
Mrs. Lewis A. DAVIS, 75, 801, W. Harrison, died at 8:10 p.m. Friday at Jefferson County Hospital.
The body is at the Raymond Funeral Home where last rites are being planned.
Bessie Alta Davis was born Dec. 31, 1899, in Miller County, Mo., the daughter of Charles Edward and Olive Eugenia DAVIS. She was reared and educated in Dixon, Mo.
She was married Feb. 17, 1920, in Richland, Mo., to Lewis A. DAVIS. They moved to Packwood in 1922, to Libertyville community in 1947, and Fairfield in 1972. She was a member of the Christian Church in Fairfield.
Survivors include her husband; six daughters, Mrs. Lester SCHAFER, Ottumwa; Mrs. Walter DURFEY, Midland, Texas; Mrs. Ray ROLAND, Fairfield; Mrs. Rodger McWHIRTER, Burlington; Mrs. Richard SCHAPIUS, Stockport; Mrs. Stuart TAYLOR, Libertyville.
Also two sons, Dale DAVIS, Omaha, Nebr., and Wayne DAVIS, Marshalltown; 23 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Doris DICKSON, Los Angeles, Calif.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Note: Mrs. Richard SCHAPIUS should be CHAPIUS.
