Lewis DAVIS Rites Set

Lewis A. DAVIS, 75, longtime Jefferson County resident, died at 7:35 p.m. Friday at Jefferson County Hospital where he had been a patient since April 18.

Last rites will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Kermit Black officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery.

Lewis A. DAVIS was born June 30, 1899, in Richland, Mo., the son of Joseph and Myrtle Lucas Davis. He was reared and educated in Camden, Mo. His marriage to Bessie A. DAVIS took place Feb. 17, 1920, at Richland. She died March 7, 1975.

They moved to Packwood in 1922, to the Libertyville community in 1947, and to Fairfield in 1972. The family home is at 801 W. Harrison.

He was a retired farmer and a member of the Christian Church.

Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Lester SCHAFER, Ottumwa; Mrs. Walter DURFEY, Midland, Texas; Mrs. Ray ROLAND, Fairfield; Mrs. Rodger McWHIRTER, Burlington; Mrs. Richard CHAPIUS, Stockport; Mrs. Stuart TAYLOR, Batavia; also two sons, Dale, Omaha, and Wayne, Marshalltown. Other survivors include 23 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother.
