Rites for Florence CLARK

Osa Florence CLARK, 82, Fairfield, died Tuesday morning at the Nelson Nursing Home. She had been in failing health since 1973.

The service will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the First Christian Church with the Rev, Charles Kinkaid officiating. Burial will be in the Packwood Cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of Raymond Funeral Home where friends may call Friday.

The daughter of Rufus Hiram and Nellie SMITH MYERS, she was born May 18, 1899, in Packwood.

She was married to Clarence William CLARK on Oct. 27, 1925 in Webster City. He died Nov. 3. 1945.

Mrs. CLARK attended Parsons College for two years and received her Bachelor of Science in commerce at the University of Iowa, Iowa City in 1925. She was a teacher in Packwood for three years and taught 20 years in the Fairfield Community School. She was a resident of Fairfield 40 years.

Until her illness she was active member and held offices in Jefferson County Republican Women, Chapter E, TTT, First Christian Church, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.

She was a charter member of the Iowa Retired Teachers Association, past treasurer of the local unit and a life member of the Iowa State Education Association.

In 1972, the Jefferson county Retired Teachers Association nominated Mrs. Clark as its candidate for Retired Teacher of the Year.

She was selected Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary Sweetheart in 1974. She was a past president of the Business and Professional Women's Club, a member and former officer of the Fairfield Women's Club and its Home and Garden Department. She was a member of the Sew and So Club of Packwood.

Mrs. CLARK is survived by one son, Jay Warren CLARK, Scottsdale, Ariz., one daughter, Shirley CAVINEE, of Fairfield, and one sister, Inez WILSON, Stuart.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers.
