Bertha Marie STOECKER, 83, of Central City, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Wesley Bruss officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton.
Family vistation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Mrs. STOECKER was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Foster, Mo., the daughter of Walter and Mary DAGGETT KISTLER. She married Bernard STOECKER June 28, 1945, in Osceola. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. STOECKER was head cook at St. Luke's Hospital for 20 years.
She enjoyed traveling, country music, basketball, watching birds and growing flowers.
Survivors include one son, Steven STOECKER and Terri of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Marla MALONE and Kelly of Central City; one daughter-in-law, Linda STOECKER of Menagha, Minn.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert KISTLER of Fairfield; and one sister, Mary BRYANT of Ankeny.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two infant children, Dewayne Lee and Sandra Kay; one son, LaVerne STOECKER; three brothers, William MAROHN, Theodore MAROHN and John KISTLER; and four sisters, Nellie MAROHN, Ruth SHARP, Helen WOLFESPERGER and Margaret FULLER.
