Hollis L. LOEFFLER, formerly of Keosauqua, IA, passed away at Fireside Lodge Healthcare Center in Ft. Worth, TX, on October 29, 2011. He had suffered a major stroke in January 2010, had accomplished a significant initial recovery, but had been in failing health in recent months. Per his wishes, Hollis will be cremated with entombment at the National Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois. A brief graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, November 8.

Hollis Leroy LOEFFLER was born on April 1, 1929, in Keosauqua, IA, the son of Voyle and Mabel LOEFFLER. He was a 1947 graduate of Hailey Idaho High School. He married G. Beryl BEER on January 7, 1951, and they celebrated 60 years of marriage on January 7, 2011. Hollis served in the U.S. Army beginning in 1951 and was honorably discharged in 1953.

Hollis was a partner for many years with his brother Darrell in the Loeffler Body Shop in Keosauqua, IA. After Darrell's retirement, he continued the business, and later liquidated the business. Subsequently he was employed by the city of Keosauqua and then the Barker Company, Ltd., where he helped design and build specialty refrigerated display cases.

In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting for big game and made several trips to Idaho and Colorado to hunt deer and elk. He also enjoyed travel with his family and he and Beryl were able to visit all of the lower 48 states. He was an accomplished woodworker, with many of his tables, plant stands, jewelry boxes, and storage chests considered to be valued possessions by family members and friends.

Hollis is survived by his wife Beryl; daughter Judy ANDERSON and husband Jim of Louisville, KY; daughter June of Ft. Worth, TX; grandson Neal and great-granddaughter Hailey of Ft. Worth, TX; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents Voyle and Mabel LOEFFLER, brothers Elza, Isaac, and Darrell, and a sister Florence COON.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the donor's charity of choice would be appreciated. Expressions of condolence can be sent to Beryl LOEFFLER, 409 Taylor Street, Saginaw, TX, 76179.
