Barbara JONES, 69, of Brighton, died early today, Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at McCreedy Home in Washington, Iowa.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

Barb JONES, 69, of Brighton, died early Thursday, Oct. 27, 2011, at McCreedy Home in Washington, Iowa.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Brighton United Church, with the Rev. Sallie Graves officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-5 p.m. Sunday at Gould Funeral Home in Brighton.

Memorials may be left at the funeral home or may be mailed to the family at 106 S. Farmer St., Brighton 52540.

Mrs. JONES was born March 29, 1942, in Alexandria, Va., the daughter of Leonard L. and Wrennie Byrd BOBSON LAYMAN. She married Ronald JONES Feb. 28, 1959, at Fort Belvoir, Va. He died Sept. 16, 2002.

Mrs. JONES was raised by her mother and stepfather Richard H. DICKEY. She grew up in Alexandria, Va., and attended school there. Mr. and Mrs. JONES moved to Brighton, where Mrs. JONES was a farmwife. She also worked in flower shops and was a home health care aide, helping many local people.

She attended Brighton United Church.

Survivors include three daughters: Kandy SEBELIUS of Washington, Iowa, Sandy ARMSTRONG and husband Larry of Tama and Sheila KNERR of Iowa City; two sons: Randy JONES and wife Marlene of Stanley, Va., and Rick JONES of Brighton; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two brothers: David LAYMAN of Edgewater, Md., and Leonard LAYMAN of Winchester, Va.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters: Vera FARMER and Joanne McCLAIN.
