DEATH CLAIMS JAMES TURNER

James E. TURNER, 74, well known resident of Fairfield, passed away about 10:45 p.m. Monday at his home, 600 E. Lowe street. He had been in failing health the past three years.

Last rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home in charge of Dr. C. R. Douglass and Dr. E. A. Piper. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. TURNER was born June 27, 1873 in Glasgow, Iowa, the son of the late Samuel B. and Mary CASE TURNER. He was married to May BEAN who survives.

He was employed at the Louden Machinery company for 17 years, and later operated a bakery known as Turner and Facer for 10 years. For the past 10 years the family has operated the Turner hotel. Mr. TURNER was a member of the Lutheran church.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John MONTGOMERY, a granddaughter, Ann Turner MONTGOMERY; and a brother, Wilson G. TURNER, all of Fairfield. His parents and one brother, A. C. TURNER, preceded him in death.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, in Lot 4th.003. His year of birth is 1871 on his gravestone, in contrast to his stated birth year of 1873 as noted above. Wife May died in 1959 and is buried there with him.
