WILL SCOTT DIED TODAY

A message was received in this city aout (sic - about) three o'clock this afternoon by Mrs. Elizabeth MILLIGAN (sic - MILLIKIN) who resides on East Broadway announcing the death of William SCOTT which occurred early today at his home in St. Joseph, Mo., after several months serious illness.

Mr. SCOTT was very well known in this city having been in the grocery business here for a number of years, being a partner of his father A. B. SCOTT, the latter conducting the business for himself for several years. After disposing of his business here, Mr. SCOTT spent a few years traveling and about ten years ago moved his family from this city to Chilicothe, Mo. Later they moved to St. Joseph, Mo., where they have since made their home.

Mr. and Mrs. SCOTT visited here last summer for a week, the former having been compelled to quit active work because of failing health. His death has been looked for for several weeks. Mr. SCOTT is survived by his wife and five children, Chester, Blanche, Louise, George and Hugh, all of whom are grown.

The remains will be brought to this city for interrment (sic), arriving Sunday at 1:15 a.m. The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the home of Mrs. MILLIGAN (sic - MILLIKIN).

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: Wife was Susan (maiden name unknown). William is a son of Abram & Sarah SCOTT, and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, in Lot Old.P.165. His gravestone mistakenly lists his death year as 1914. Susan's burial place is unknown at this time. Elizabeth MILLIKIN would be William's aunt -- the sister of his mother, Sarah.
