Mrs. Iva SAWVEL Taken In Death

Mrs. Iva SAWVEL, 88, died Wednesday night at the Good Samaritan Home in Ottumwa where she had been a resident the past four years. She had been seriously ill the past month.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Ned Gillum officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Mrs. SAWVEL was born Oct. 27, 1878 at Ogden, Ill., the daughter of James and Mary STEARN FREEMAN. She was married to Francis E. SAWVEL on March 18, 1887 (sic - 1897). He died Dec. 21, 1951.

She was a member of the First Christian Church and a resident of Fairfield for many years.

Mrs. SAWVEL is survived by nine children: Mrs. Wilda KELLEY of Cheyenne, Wyo., Mrs. Pearl PATTISON of Fairfield, Lester SAWVEL of Moravia, Floyd SAWVEL of Spring Park, Minn., Mrs. Faye HAYES of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Fern RIDDLE of Ashland, Ore., Mrs. Mildred CHARLES of Boulder, Colo., Robert SAWVEL of Sargent, Minn., and Warren SAWVEL of Beloit, Wis.

She is also survived by 40 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Ezra FREEMAN of Batavia and Louie FREEMAN of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons and one daughter.
