Lowell Elwin STACY

Lowell Elwin STACY, 71, of Wayland, died from colon cancer Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2011, at home.

A celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Wayland Mennonite Church, with the Rev. Pam Unruh and Kelly Slagel officiating. The body has been cremated.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church.

A memorial fund has been established for Wayland Mennonite Church.

Arrangements are in the care of Beatty Funeral Home.

Mr. STACY was born Oct. 21, 1939, in East Pleasant Plain, the son of Raymond and Edith MONTGOMERY STACY. He married Patricia ERWIN Aug. 9, 1959, in Kirksville, Mo.

Mr. STACY graduated from Brighton High School. He was a farmer.

Mr. STACY was a member of Wayland Mennonite Church. He was an Eagle Scout and scout leader. He had served as a youth leader at the Christian Church in Fairfield for many years. He also was active in 4-H with his children and served on the Jefferson County Fair Board for 16 years.

Mr. STACY enjoyed woodworking, deer hunting and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; five children: Greg STACY and wife Kathy of Wayland, Patty BOONE and husband Ed of Wayland, Garth STACY and wife Vicki of Fairfield, Gavin STACY and wife Darla of Brighton and Paula PHIPPS and husband Gary of Eldridge; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one brother: Lyle STACY; and one sister: Jean SHAFANEK of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
