W. H. FAULKNER SUCCUMBS AT HOME TODAY

Death came this morning around 4:15 o'clock to William Henry FAULKNER, 78, lifetime resident of Fairfield, at his home at 908 West Grimes street.

FAULKNER, a cement contractor, had been confined to his bed for the past three months.

He is survived by his wife, and the following children: Lloyd FAULKNER, Los Angeles, Calif.; Lewis FAULKNER, Fontana, Calif.; Henry FAULKNER, Topeka, Kan.; Mrs. Dottie DONNER, Chicago, Ill.; Fred FAULKNER, Keosauqua; Bert FAULKNER, Fairfield; Mrs. Walter (sic - Joseph Walter) RANARD, Fairfield; Mrs. William BRIGGS, Fairfield, and Harry FAULKNER, Seaman first class, U. S. Navy, Stillwater, Okla., and one brother, Dave FAULKNER, of Los Angeles, Calif.

The body has been taken to the Hoskins Funeral Home where funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon. The Rev. J. I. Dool will be in charge of services, and interment will take place in the Evergreen cemetery.

FAULKNER Services Sunday Afternoon

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Hoskins Funeral Home for William Henry FAULKNER, 78, who passed away around 4:50 a.m. Thursday at his home, 908 West Grimes St.

The Rev. J. I. Dool will be in charge of the services, and burial will take place in the Evergreen cemetery.

FAULKNER, a lifetime resident of Fairfield, is survived by his wife, and ten children, including: Lloyd, Los Angeles, Calif., John, Fairfield, Bert, Keosauqua Louis Fontana, Caif. Henry, Topeka, Kans., Mrs. Dottie DONNER, Chicago, Ill., Fred Keosauqua, Mrs. William BRIGGS, Fairfield and Harry, Seaman First Clas U. S. Navy, Stillwater, Okla, and his brother, Dave FAULKNER of Los Angeles, Calif.

FAULKNER, held at the Hoskins Funeral home, on Sunday were, Mr. and Mrs. Verle PORTER, of Brighton, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray SMITH, of Fairfield. Both ladies are nieces of Mr. FAULKNER. Mr. and Mrs. Delph Orman and Mrs. Raymond Conner of Ottumwa were also in attendance. Two sons, Lloyd and Lewis of California and one daughter, Mrs. Dottie DONNOR, of Chicago were unable to come for the services.

OBITUARY

WILLIAM HENRY FAULKNER

Wiliam Henry FAULKNER was born March 5, 1865 at Fairfield, Iowa. He passed away January 6, 1844 at 4:50 a.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Walter RANARD, 908 West Grimes St., Fairfield, Iowa.

He was united in marriage, November, 1888, to Miss Alice BRANNER. Four children were born to this union, Lloyd E., Henry H., Dottie A. DONNOR, and Louis A. All of these children are living. Mrs. Alice FAULKNER passed away in May, 1895.

He was united in marriage, Oct. 3, 1899, to Miss Margarette Elizabeth FRANZ. Ten children were born to this union, Wiliam F., Fred W., Ernest John, Mrs. Walter RANARD, Bert B., Katherine, Kenneth F., Frances J., Mrs. William A. BRIGGS, Harry E.; William, Katherine, Kenneth and Frances preceded their father in death.

His entire life was spent in Fairfield and vicinity with the exception of six years spent in Colorado. He attended Parsons college and worked with the Iowa State Geological Dept. for some years. He and his brother, Henry, together owned a cement contract business at which work he spent the major portion of his life. The last fifteen years of his life he furnished sand to various foundries in this section of the state.

Mr. FAULKNER had been in failing health for several years. His condition became serious this last summer and he was confined to his bed the last three months.

One brother, David of Los Angeles and eighteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. His passing is mourned by a host of friends. His absence is felt very keenly for he was a kind and loving husband and father.

Funeral services were held at the Hoskins funeral home Sunday afternoon, January 9, 1944 at 1:30 p.m., the Rev. J. I. Dool of the Presbyterian church officiating. Music was furnished by Miss Julia Porter and Prof. Arnold J. Running. The pallbearers were William Philpps, Harry Kennedy, Henderson Emry, Walter McCarty, William Bruders, Harry Heston. Internment (sic) was in Evergreen cemetery.
