Mrs. JENCKS, 87, Dies In Kansas

Mrs. Maurice JENCKS, 87, Topeka, Kan., passed away this morning following an extended illness.

Committal services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in Evergreen Cemetery. The body will arrive at the Raymond Funeral Home late Wednesday morning.

Jessie MANATREY was born March 24, 1885, in Fairfield. She was the daughter of John P. and Cordelia FYE MANATREY. She was reared and educated in Fairfield.

She was married to Maurice JENCKS who preceded her in death in 1956.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Hambleton ABRAHAM, Topeka; one granddaughter and four grandsons.

Mrs. JENCKS was preceded in death by three sisters. She was the last of a family of early settlers in Fairfield.

Note: Buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, in Lot Old.P.334. There is some discrepancy with her birthdate - above it lists March 24, 1885, but it's March 2, 1886 on her gravestone. The Social Security Death Index notes March 24, 1886. The 1900 Census shows March, 1886, and the 1910 census (taken in May) shows her as 24 years old, consistent with an 1886 birth. Consider birthdates for her with caution.
