MRS. WHEELOCK DIES SUDDENLY

Mrs. Lewis WHEELOCK, of Des Moines, passed away this morning at a hospital in Des Moines, following a brief illness. She was taken ill on Saturday, shortly after returning from a visit with her mother and sisters in Fairfield.

Surviving are her husgand (sic - husband), Lewis WHEELOCK, Sr., prominent Des Moines investment broker; one son, Lewis, Jr., stationed at a camp in Georgia; a daughter, Louise, at home; her mother, Mrs. J. P. MANATREY 703 E. Burlington St.; and three sisters, Miss Hazel MANATREY, 703 E. Burlington street; Mrs. Walter HUGHES, 707 E. Burlington, and Mrs. Maurice JENCKS, Topeka, Kan.

Arrangements for funeral services are incomplete pending word from relatives at a distance.

Last Rites Here This Morning For Mrs. L. F. WHEELOCK

Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis F. WHEELOCK, Sr, the former Louise MANATREY, were held this morning at 10:00 at the MANATREY family residence, 703 E. Burlington. Mrs. WHEELOCK passed away Wednesday morning at Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines following a brief illness.

Services were held yesterday at 1:30 p.m. at the WHEELOCK home, 4267 Foster drive, Des Moines. In charge of the short services here this morning was Dr. Curtis R. Douglass, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Interment was in the MANATREY family lot in Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were John Shuler, James Wallace, Bill Hassett, Roy Harische, Lou Keller and James Cummins, all of Des Moines.

Mrs. WHEELOCK was born and raised in Fairfield attending the Fairfield public schools and graduating from the State University at Iowa City where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority. Since her marriage to Mr. WHEELOCK in 1920 she has made her home in Des Moines, where she was active in social and welfare activities.

She was a member of the Junior League of Des Moines, a former board member of the Junior League convalescent home, a member of the Salvation Army board and was active as a volunteer nurse's aid (sic - aide). She was also a member of the local Chapter C of P. E. O. and of the Congregational church.
