Richard 'Dick' HANNA

Richard "Dick" HANNA, 73, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at his home north of Milton.

A Day of Remembrance will be held Sept. 30 on the family farm, with a short service, with military rites by American Legion Russell-Strait Post No. 483 of Milton, at 5 p.m. Hot dogs will be roasted and stories shared. Anyone wishing to attend may dress casually and bring a lawn chair. The body has been cremated and will be buried with Mrs. HANNA upon her death.

The family would like to compile a book of memories. Anyone wishing to share a memory may record it on paper and take it to the home, send it to the family at 13575 240th St., Milton 52570, or email it to dana@cfirst.com. Monetary memorials or flowers are not necessary.

Arrangements are in the care of Pedrick Funeral Home.

Mr. HANNA was born Oct. 15, 1937, at home near Bladensburg, the son of Loren Cremer HANNA and Claire Edwinna SHUERT HANNA. He married Carol DUGGER in 1959. They divorced after 13 years. He married Dana DAVIS Sept. 1, 1974.

Mr. HANNA graduated from Pulaski High School in 1956 and enlisted in the marines that same year. He served in the marines for three years -- he was stationed in San Francisco and Hawaii and played football for the Hawaiian marines. He farmed the Meek Ranch south of Milton and later farmed north of Milton until his illness. He was emloyed at Mid-States Manufacturing in Milton for several years.

Mr. HANNA was a member of Milton Christian Church, American Legion Russell-Strait Post No. 483, Russell-Strait Rifle Squad, Cantril Grass Roots, Cantril Improvement Corporation, Van Buren County Farm Bureau and Farm Mutual Insurance Board. He also was a Jackson Township trustee.

Mr. HANNA played on the Cantril & Milton ASA & Co-ed Softball Teams and Memphis men's fast pitch team, catching fast pitch and pitching slow pitch. He loved God, family, friends, farming, working, his dogs, sports, the marines, arrowhead hunting, animals, nature and witching water.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cindy DOERSCHER and husband Dave of Bloomfield and Kyli KITE and husband Trae of Keosauqua; two grandchildren; one brother, Dean HANNA of Pulaski; and one sister, Linda WHEELER of Sevierville, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
