Lloyd HASTY

Lloyd HASTY, 64, of Johnston, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at Mercy Hospice-Johnston.

A celebration of life will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center in Fairfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Hope Lodge, 750 Hawkins Drive, Iowa City 52242, or Mercy Hospice-Johnston, 5820 Winwood Drive, Johnston 50131.

Mr. HASTY was born Jan. 6, 1947, in Peoria, Ill., the son of Harry and Elisabetta RISSO HASTY. He married Sheri WEBER April 8, 1967, at St. Elizabeth's Church in Robinson, Ill.

Mr. HASTY and his family moved to Fairfield in April 1977, when he became manager of Spurgeons Department Store. He also managed Burger King in Fairfield and worked at Hy-Vee, where he had to take early retirement due to declining health.

Mr. HASTY was a member of the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. He co-chaired the Merchants Christmas Committee and served on St. Mary's Parish Counsel. He was a charter member of Calu Apartments and served on the board of directors. He also was recorder for the Knights Of Columbus.

Mr. HASTY enjoyed playing golf, disc golf and tennis and traveling.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Hope TRUEBLOOD and husband Brent of Rutledge, Tenn.; one son, Ryan and wife Junli of Des Moines; two brothers, Dennis of Robinson, Ill., and David of Oblong, Ill.; one sister, Lauree of Hillsboro, Ga.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
