Roland T. Stride, 69, of 906 S. Eighth St., died from cancer Sunday, Aug. 24, 2003, in his home.

A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Unity Church on Highway 34 East, with the Rev. Eleanor Hunter Fleming officiating.

Mr. Stride was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Ashland, Pa., the son of Harry and Anna Kreipher Stride. He married Ann Marie Gurley Petit Oct. 24, 1983, in Bradford, Maine.

Mr. Stride worked as a tool maker and machinist. He served in the United States Army for six years.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Robert Stride of New Jersey and William Stride of Missouri; one daughter, Cheryl Stride Welch of Tennessee; two sisters, Ethel Pearson of Florida., and Edith Felline of Connecticut; and three grandchildren.

Mr. Stride was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Harry Stride.
