Esram HUFFMAN, 89, pioneer resident of Jefferson county, passed away at 1:00 a.m. today at his home one and one-half miles east of Abingdon. He had been, for many years, a prominent farmer and stock raiser of that community and lived for 70 years on the same farm. He suffered a stroke ten weeks ago and had been seriously ill since that time.

He was born June 26, 1855 near Fairfield, one of the four sons of Hiram and Liza HUFFMAN. On Sept. 24, 1874 he was married to Sarah Ann HINTON, who survives. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last Sunday.

Surviving besides his wife are one son, John of Abingdon, one daughter, Mrs. Harry BRADFIELD, also of Abingdon, four grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Frank E., who passed away in 1913.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the Christian church in Abingdon with Rev. S. P. Williamson officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery there. The body will be taken from the Campbell funeral parlors in Batavia to the family residence this afternoon.

Note: His gravestone is engraved with the death date of September 27th, however his obituary was published on the 29th and states he died on that day. Wife Sarah would die the following year and is buried beside him.
