Wendell Robert KITCH

Wendell Robert KITCH, 77, of Fairfield, died Saturday, Aug. 27, 2011, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen C. Page officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to an ogranization of the donor's choice. Memorials and cards may be sent to 305 W. Washington St., Fairfield 52556.

Mr. KITCH was born April 27, 1934, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Howard and Cecelia VANDERSNICK KITCH.

Mr. KITCH was a lifelong resident of the Fairfield community. He worked for Dexter Company as a machinist for more than 40 years.

Mr. KITCH served in the United States Air Force.

Mr. KITCH was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2271, Eagles Club No. 1927 and American Legion.

He was a fan of all sports and especially liked the St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed playing cards and visiting with friends over coffee.

Survivors include three siblings, Shirley KITCH of Fairfield, Rita VANDERSNICK of Fairfield and Ronald KITCH of Cedar Rapids.

He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Marvin, Reuben, Bill and Donald and Jean McGEE.
