Funeral Services Will Be Held From Methodist Church Wednesday At 10
Mrs. Mary Alice LIBLIN, familiarly known as Mrs. Mollie LIBLIN and a highly respected resident of this city, died this morning at 2:45 oclock at her home, 204 East Washington street, where her entire life has been spent. Mrs. LIBLIN was stricken with paralysis April 23 and was a patient at the Jeferson (sic) County hospital until a month ago when she was remove to her home, being somewhat improved. During the past week she suffered three strokes and had been in a critical condition since then.
The funeral services will be held from the Methodist church Wednesday morning at 10 oclock in charge of Rev. W. R. Keesey of Ottumwa. Burial will be in the family lot in Evergreen cemetery, the Rebekah lodge having charge of the services at the grave. The body is at the Hoskins funeral home where the friends may call and pay their respects.
Mrs. LIBLIN was the daughter of William J. and Almira GILBERT and was born in Fairfield May 25, 1864, being at the time of her death 64 years, 1 month and 14 days old. She was married Feb. 6, 1901 to Martin J. LIBLIN, who preceded her in death Sept. 22, 1904. To this union was born one daughter, Alice Almira who passed away Jan. 25, 1905 at the age of 21 months.
She is survived by two nephews Ruben D. GILBERT of this city and Leo GIBSON of Ft. Madison, who at the time of the death of his mother when he was only 5 years old, was taken by Mrs. LIBLIN and given a mother's care until grown. The past two winters she has spent in the GIBSON home in Ft. Madison, and during her last illness of over two months Mrs. GIBSON has been here with her. She was the last of her immediate family, but leaves a number of more distant relatives.
In early girlhood she united with the Methodist Episcopal church where she has been a member ever since. She was affiliated with the Fairfield Rebekah lodge No. 96 and the Pythian Sisters and was always an active worker.
