OBITUARY

George W. LIBLIN

George W., eldest of the seven children of George and Mary LONG LIBLIN was born on March 17, 1864 in Jefferson County, Iowa. He lived to be three days past seventy-one years of age, passing away at his home in Center Township, on Wednesday afternoon, March 20, 1935.

On November 29, 1888 he was married to Rose BEAN and has lived happily in this union since. One child, George William, was born to the union. He lived to be but 2 years and 8 months old passing away in 1902.

Mr. LIBLIN is survived by his sorrowing wife, two sisters Melissa LIBLIN of Fairfield and Della FICKLE of Eldon, three brothers, Ed of Fairfield, Frank of San Berdenio (sic - San Bernardino), Cal., and Sylvester of Fairfield and a number of nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends. One brother, Will, preceded him in death.

He was a member of the First Christian church of Fairfield, confessing his faith in Christ in a series of meetings held by Rev. O. E. Hamilton in 1905. He has been a consistent Christian since finding comfort in his faith as the years have gone by. Mr. LIBLIN was well known and highly respected through Jefferson county where he spent his whole life. A hard worker and thorougly reliable man of his word, he was held in high esteem by all who knew him. In July of 1929 he suffered a fall and from the effects of this he did not recover. For five years and eight months he has been lovingly cared for by his devoted wife. After a more serious illness for the past three weeks he passed quietly away at 3 o'clock on Wednesday afternoon. He will be missed by a wide circle of friends and acquaintances, who mourn his passing from their midst.

Funeral services were held from the home on Saturday afternoon conducted by Rev. S. P. Williamson, minister of the First Christian church of Fairfield. Willard Pedrick sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and Mrs. S. P. Williamson and Mrs. A. C. Johnson sang "Beautiful Isle" and "Going Down the Valley." Pallbearers were Frank LIBLIN, Ben LIBLIN, Walter BEAN, Fred Keller, Ralph Larson, and C. I. DeLashmutt. The remains were interred in Evergreen cemetery.
