Sheila Kay Hoaglin, 61, of Canton, Mo., formerly of Keosauqua and Hillsboro, died at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, in an auto accident at the junction of Highway 2 and Van Buren County Route W-40 south of Bonaparte.

The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Ed Newman officiating. Burial will be in Pittsburg Cemetery, west of Keosauqua.

Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the family present from 7-8:30 p.m. Memorials to her grandsons education may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at Route 1, Box 66A, Canton, Mo. 63435.

Mrs. Hoaglin was born Jan. 13, 1942, in Keosauqua, the daughter of Jack and Betty Lawson Sherod. She married Darrell Hoaglin. They divorced.

Mrs. Hoaglin worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown and Sheaffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison.

She had been a Girl Scout leader in Hillsboro and did crafts as her pastime.

Survivors include two daughters, Brandi Ray of Canton and Angela Hoaglin of Fort Madison; one son, Jason Hoaglin of Canton; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ann Plemmons of Battletown, Ky., and Carole Witte of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and four brothers, Don Mitchell and Matt Mitchell of Bonaparte, Mark Mitchell of Salem and Todd Mitchell of Peosta.

Mrs. Hoaglin was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Mindy Hoaglin; and one brother, Richard Sherod.
