Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Mary E. BARNETT, 99, of rural Cantril, died at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, July 24, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cantril United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Donna Olinger officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril.
Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the family present 6-7:30 p.m. followed by an open to the public Order of Eastern Star service.
Gifts toward a memorial to be designated later by the family may be left at the funeral home or church or may be mailed to the family at 28475 Iowa Oak Grove Ave., Cantril 52542.
Mrs. BARNETT was born Aug. 28, 1911, near Birmingham, the daughter of S. Asa and Effie LEE JONES. She married M. Clark BARNETT Aug. 11, 1936, in Monticello, Mo. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. BARNETT graduated from Birmingham High School and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. She taught in rural Van Buren County schools and farmed with her husband southeast of Cantril, where she continued to live.
Mrs. BARNETT was a member of Cantril United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Twin City Chapter 258 of Order of Eastern Star of Douds and Cantril Quilting Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Edna WOOD of Martelle, Mona SCHEMMEL and husband Tom of Farley and Wava BENNETT, who lived with and cared for her mother; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, John, William, Stanley "Jiggs," George and J.R. "Sam" JONES; and three sisters, Lucinda RINABARGER, Minnie WILLIAMS and Edna WRIGHT; and one son-in-law, Ronald WOOD.
