MRS. CLARENCE SPRATT DIES EARLY TODAY

Brief illness proves fatal for long-time member of Presbyterian church

Mrs. Clarence SPRATT, 60, faithful worker in the First Presbyterian church of this city, passed away at 1 o'clock this morning at the Jefferson county hospital where she had been a patient since February 7. Mrs. SPRATT was taken suddenly ill on that date, and taken at once to the hospital.

The body was taken to the Hoskins Funeral home, but funeral arrangements have not yet been completed, pending word from relatives in Canada.

Mrs. Jennie Ethel SPRATT was born March 1 1881, the daughter of Henry and Elizabeth DOWNS. She spent the major part of her life in Fairfield, moving away for only a few years to live in Canada. She was the wife of Clarence SPRATT, local fireman. Throughout her life, Mrs. SPRATT was an active worker and a regular attendant at the First Presbyterian church.

Surviving is her husband, Clarence SPRAT. On last October 16 the SPRATT's only child, Miss Louise SPRATT, passed away. Surviving also is one sister, Mrs. Walter BEAN of Fairfield, and three brothers, Charlie DOWNS and W. R. DOWNS of Lew Van, Saskatchewan, Canada, and Harry DOWNS of Grand Coulee Saskatchewan, Canada.

Note: Jennie is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Fairfield, in Lot 2nd.146. She shares a monument with husband Clarence and daughter Anna Louise.
