'Patsy' SPRATT Succumbs To Heart Ailment

Clarence "Patsy" SPRATT, member of the Fairfield fire department for 25 years, passed away Saturday night at his home, 311 W. Burlington. He died of a heart attack about 9:15 p.m. after an illness of the past few weeks.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond funeral home with Dr. C. R. Douglass in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

"Patsy" SPRATT, as his many friends knew him, joined the fire department as a driver on July 1, 1934, and had served in that capacity until his recent retirement May 19, 1959. He had witnessed a complete turnover in membership on the department and a complete turnover in equipment.

He was born Nov. 17, 1883, in Illinois, the son of the late George and Rebecca VANCE SPRATT. He was united in marriage to Jennie DOWNS who passed away Feb. 18, 1941. He was later married to May (sic - Lillian May) SEAMAN on Aug. 31, 1942, who survives.

SPRATT was also a member of the Presbyterian church and the Eagles lodge (sic - Eagles aerie).

Besides his wife, he is survived by the following stepchildren: Aubry SEAMAN, Seattle, Washington; Mrs. Judson COX, San Antonio, Tex.; Mrs. Clifford LOUDERMILK, Kennewick, Wash.; Mrs. Lloyd LAWSON, Viola, Ill.; Mrs. Phil ST. CLAIR, Eugene, Ore.; Mrs. Roger BRAUN, Newton; William SEAMAN, Des Miones; and 15 grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Daisy RYAN, Midlothian, Ill.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and one stepson.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I am not related to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: Clarence is buried in Evergreen Cemetery with his first wife Jennie, in Lot 2nd.146. His second wife, May, was herself married twice; Lillian May JOHNSON married George W. SEAMAN in 1914 and they divorced in 1938; 'May', as she was known, is buried next to the deceased stepson noted here (actually a memorial stone for her son, Russell Otto SEAMAN, who was killed at Pearl Harbor) in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.
