May SPRATT, 83, taken in death

Funeral services for Lillian May SPRATT, former Fairfield resident, were held Oct. 13 at the Pleasantville United Methodist Church in Pleasantville with the Rev. Dan Herndon officiating.

Interment was in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield Saturday afternoon.

Mrs. SPRATT died Oct. 10 in Des Moines.

Lillian May SPRATT was born Dec. 18, 1895, the daughter of James W. and Elizabeth WATSON JOHNSON. She was married to Clarence "Patsy" SPRATT of Fairfield, remembered by many Fairfield residents as a former fire truck driver before his retirement. He died May 23, 1959.

Mrs. SPRATT moved to Pleasantville in 1965 where she made her home until her health failed.

She is survived by seven children, 17 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren, along with three sisters.

Note: Lillian was known as May, and was married to George W. SEAMAN in 1914 (divorced in 1938) before marrying Clarence SPRATT. They had at least one son, Russell O. SEAMAN, who was the first WWII casualty from Fairfield and Jefferson County, and next to whose memorial stone she is buried. She is in Lot Devotion A 165, space 2; son Russell's cenotaph is in space 1.
