Page 8, Column 4LONG ILLNESS PROVES FATAL
Mrs. Louis P. CLINE, 80, long-time resident of the Abingdon community, passed away this morning at the Jefferson county hospital at 6:30 a.m. She had been in failing health for the past few years and seriously ill for three weeks. She entered the hospital three weeks ago.
Last rites will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Abingdon Christian church with Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in the Abingdon cemetery. Arrangements for the services will be in charge of the Hoskins funeral home.
Matilda Evaline CLINE was born September 23, 1868, near Abingdon, the daughter of the later J. R. and Susan BLACK PETERS. She lived practically her entire life in Jefferson county except for a few years she spent in Nebraska.
She was united in marriage January 17, 1889, to Louis P. CLINE who survives. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this month while Mrs. CLINE was a patient at the hospital.
Mrs. CLINE had been a member of the Abingdon Christian church since childhood and took an active interest in church activities as long as her health permitted.
Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Nora DAVIS, Batavia, and Mrs. Mabel FORREST, Hedrick; and a son, Charles CLINE, Abingdon. She is also survived by four grandchildren; four brothers, J. R., F. B. and C. W. PETERS, all of Fairfield, and J.H. PETERS, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha POWELSON, Fairfield; and Mrs. Millie TAYLOR, also of Fairfield.
Her parents and three brothers preceded Mrs. CLINE in death.
