Harold "Dutch" R. HECKENBERG, 90, of Brownsburg, Ind., died Saturday, Aug. 16, 2003, at Brownsburg Healthcare Center.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. today at Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Burial was in Lambert (sic - Lambirth) Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Gideons.

Mr. HECKENBERG was born Aug. 17, 1912, in Jefferson County, the son of Lou and Myrtle LEE HECKENBERG. He married Hazel HUMPHREY HECKENBERG May 23, 1936. She died May 8, 1989.

Mr. HECKENBERG farmed most of his life in Van Buren County. In 1979, he moved back to the Round Prairie area.

Mr. HECKENBERG was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. Before that time he had been a life-long member of Round Prairie Baptist Church. He also served the church as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, greeter and was an active Gideon.

Survivors include one daughter Janice WELLS and husband Charlie of Avon, Ind.; two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister Doris WATSON of Fairfield.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two infant brothers; and one sister.
