ABINGDON--News was received here Wednesday of the sudden death of Dr. Ezekiel DOWNEY at his home in Bloomfield. Dr. DOWNEY was one of the pioneer residents of this section. He has an aged brother and sister living in this village. He was one of nature's noblemen, a man of more than ordinary intelligence and ability.

Note: Buried in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Bloomfield, Davis Co., IA, Lot 205. According to the WPA Report he was born in 1828 and died February 5, 1907. Married twice, first wife Lucinda A. HAMS; second wife Mary DAVID.
