Page 5, Column 2DEATH OF ALEX. P. BENN -- Occurred at his home near Packwood, in this county, at 7:30 o'clock last Thursday morning.... Mr. BENN was born Feb. 22, 1821, in Clarke County, Virginia. He emigrated to Iowa in May, 1843, and was married in Wapello County ot Miss Phoebe C. CONGER (sic - COWGER) on 26 February 1854. Ten children blessed this union, nine of whom are still living, one having died in infancy. Francis, Nellie, John, Charlie and Effie were with him when he died; those absent were Mrs. T. J. HOUGHTON, of Nebr.; Mrs. Edwin DRAPER, of Kansas; Mrs. Lillie MITCHELL, of Pekin, Iowa, and Robert, the oldest son, near Belleville..... Member Christian Church..... Funeral services were held in the Christian church at Abingdon, conducted by Rev. Ballanger, of Oskaloosa.
