HUGH HARRISON FUNERAL AT ABINGDON--Died early Friday morning.... One of the best known residents of Polk township. Born July 20, 1818. Over fifty years ago he came here from Ohio. Lived near Fairfield at first but for many years just previous to his death he lived near Abingdon. Before coming to Iowa he was married to Catherine RAMEY who died three years ago (sic - four years ago, in April 1903). Their children are George, W.C., P.C., Emmanuel, Levi (Andrew Levi), and Scott HARRISON, and Mrs. Rebecca KNOWLES of Fairfield, Mrs. Francis GAMEL, Hedrick, Mrs. Phoebe KOONS, Oklahoma. Four sons served in the Civil War, one, Thomas, died in service. Christian church.

FIFTY-FIVE YEARS IN JEFFERSON COUNTY. Hugh HARRISON died near Abingdon Thursday night. He came to this county from Ohio in 1852 and had lived for more than half a century in the locality in which he died. Eight children survive him, five of whom reside in this county - Emanuel, W.C., Levi, Scott, and Mrs. J.M. KNOWLES of this city. Geo. W. HARRISON, a former sheriff of Jefferson County, was a son. Mr. HARRISON had four sons in the Union army during the Civil War, and during his long residence in Iowa he never cast a vote for any but republican candidates and never missed an election....

ABINGDON--Hugh HARRISON leaves to mourn.... 9 children, 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren.... Interment in Abingdon cemetery. Mrs. Phoebe KOONTZ, Enid, Okla.; Perry HARRISON, Amora (sic), Neb.; and George HARRISON, Belle Plains, Kan., are here called by the death of their father, Hugh HARRISON.
