KILLED IN COLORADO. -- John W. MARKWELL, a young man who formerly resided in the vicinity of Abingdon, this county, was fatally injured in the wreck of a freight train on the Denver & South Park Railway, near Dome Rock, Col., on the 4th inst. He was conductor of the train. His engineer was instantly killed, but MARKWELL and the fireman lived long enough to be removed to a hospital at Denver, where the former died the same evening. Almost the entire train was thrown from the track. Young MARKWELL grew to manhood near Abingdon, and was related to the COLLINS, ROMACKs and GOBBLEs of Polk township. He was killed the day he was 25 years old. He had been in the west three or four years, and commanded the highest respect of his associates there as he did of his old companions and neighbors in Iowa. He was a young man of excellent habits. The remains were brought to this city Monday from Denver and were taken to Abingdon for interment the same day.
