SUDDEN DEATH AT ABINGDON.

Wednesday afternoon Lee T. GOBBLE received a telephone message that his uncle, Archibald GOBBLE, had dropped dead at his home, about one mile southwest of Abingdon, from heart trouble. Mr. GOBBLE was ninety-two years old and had been in poor health for some time. He was born in Washington Co., Virginia, and in 1867 moved to Locust Grove township, this county, where he has ever since resided. That he was a great home man is shown by the fact that the only time he was ever in Fairfield was when he passed through enroute to his home. He was a typical southern gentleman, very hospitable, quiet and unassuming, and a member of the Christian Church. Mr. GOBBLE is survived by a wife and seven children -- E.M. GOBBLE and Emeline FLEENER of Cashan, Okla.; Thomas GOBBLE of Grenola, Kan. Mrs. Maggie CALDWELL, Mrs. Susan HELTON and Emma GOBBLE of Abingdon, William GOBBLE of Pleasant Plain. The funeral was conducted by Elder W. A. Black of the Christian Church at Abingdon, at 3 p.m. Friday, at the house.
