Charles Willard PETERS, one of Fairfield's oldest citizens, died Monday evening at the Jefferson County Hospital... Last rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m at the Raymond funeral home with the Rev. Lee Davis in charge. Burial will be in the Abingdon cemetery.

Charles Willard PETERS, 92, was born July 3, 1870, in Jefferson County, the son of James R. and Mary S. BLACK PETERS. He was reared and educated in Jefferson County. On Sept. 6, 1893, he was married to Polly DAVIS. The wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents. He spent practically his entire life in Jefferson County, 39 years in Fairfield. Mr. and Mrs. PETERS celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary on Sept. 6. The family home is at 201 N. Third. PETERS was a retired mail carrier and farmer, and was a member of the Christian church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ira DAVIS, Packwood; one son, Charles PETERS, Mankato, Minn.; 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers, J.R. and Ben PETERS, both of Fairfield; and two sisters, Mrs. Bertha POWELSON, Fairfield, and Mrs. Millie DUFFIELD, Moberly, Mo. He was preceded in death by one daughter, two sons, one sister and four brothers.
