Mary S. BLACK was born March 8, 1846, in Coles County, Illinois, and came to Iowa with her parents when a small child. She passed away at her home Nov. 6, 1924.... at the age of 78 y. 9 m. 28 d. She united with the Presbyterian church at six, and with the Christian Church at Abingdon Nov. 7, 1870, under the ministry of Jasper N. Smith. She was united in marriage to James R. PETERS March 8, 1866, and they lived together for almost 59 years. To his union were born ten children, seven sons and three daughters. Three sons, Elmer, Ralph and Allen preceded her in death. Her aged husband, four sons, three daughters, 25 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, one brother, two sisters and a host of other relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss. Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church at Abingdon by Rev. S. K. Coats of Washington, Sunday, Nov. 9, at 2 o'clock.
