Jack H. SELLARS

Jack H. SELLARS, 94, a longtime resident of Fairfield, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at Halcyon House in Washington, Iowa.

A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Julie Poulsen officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield.

Family visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established to First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, Fairfield Public Library and Halcyion House in Washington, Iowa.

Mr. SELLARS was born June 24, 1916, in Keokuk County, the son of Logan and Berenice WADE SELLARS. He married Ruth CARTER May 27, 1941.

Mr. SELLARS was a 1934 graduate of Richland High School. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Parsons College and lived most of his adult life in Fairfield. He was director of materials at the Dexter Company until his retirement in 1981.

Mr. SELLARS served as a sergeant during World War II in the Signal Corps attached to the Army Air Corps.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Fairfield, Fairfield Lions Club, Elks Lodge and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Agnes PETERSON.
