OBITUARY.

Angeline L. GOBBLE, daughter of George GOBBLE and Margaret BRITTON GOBBLE, was born in Washington County, Virginia, July 3, 1828. She departed this life at her home near New London, Iowa, on August 28, 1918 (sic - August 21st on stone), at the age of 90 years, 1 month, and 25 days. In 1849, with her parents, she came to Abingdon, Iowa. The remainder of her life was spent in Jefferson County, until two years ago when she removed to New London, Iowa.... She was united in marriage to William H. SEARS October 2, 1851. Ten children resulted from this union, five of whom survive to mourn their loss. Her husband preceded her in death in 1906 (sic - 1905), also one son and four daughters. Those remaining are: Mrs. J. H. PARSONS, of near Abingdon, and Miss Evangeline SEARS, of New London; George and William also of New London. There are nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She was united with the M.E. church in Virginia in 1846, removing her membership to Batavia, Iowa, where it still remains....

Note: Both Angeline and William are buried in Abingdon Cemetery. Though the obituary mentions five surviving children, only four are named.
