Amos L. VAN NESS, who died at Abingdon the 10th inst., had been a resident of Jefferson County for fifty-four years. He was for many years a mail carrier between Abingdon and Fairfield, and knew everybody on his route. He was a native of Ohio, born September 12th, 1822, and came to Illinois in young manhood. He was married there to Melvina LAUGHLIN, who died in this county several years ago (sic - in 1895). They were the parents of twelve children, six of whom are now living.... The remains were interred at Abingdon.
