DEATH OF ALMOST A CENTENARIAN.

There died at Abingdon, this county, last Thursday, a man whose life had extended through the administration of every president of the United States, including Washington's first term. Mr. George GOBBLE, to whom we refer, had been a citizen of Abingdon for thirty years. He was born in Washington county, Va., in the year 1790, and hence was ninety years old. In 1850 he came to this county and has lived here ever since. He came of a long lived stock, his mother having died at the age of 103. Mr. GOBBLE had kept hotel for years at Abingdon and is known to everyone in that section of the country. He was a distant relative of the branch of the GOBBLE family known in this city.... Methodist church....

Note: Buried in Abingdon Cemetery with no gravestone. His wife was Margaret BRITTON who died in 1872.
