Joyce L. ANDERSON

Joyce L. ANDERSON, 91, of rural Keosauqua died at 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011, at River Hills Village Retirement Center in Keokuk.

The funeral is set for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Larry Smith officiating. Burial will be in Miller Chapel Cemetery northeast of Keosauqua.

Visitation will open at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with family present from 6-8 p.m.

Memorials to the Education Foundation of Van Buren Community Schools, the Activities Department of River Hills Village or Friends of Birmingham may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 13454 Highway 1, Birmingham 52535.

Mrs. ANDERSON was born Dec. 4, 1919, in the Big Mound community south of Hillsboro, the daughter of Harry J. and Helen HIXSON KING. She married Jean W. ANDERSON Nov. 25, 1936, at the Presbyterian manse in Fairfield. He died April 12, 1991.

Mrs. ANDERSON grew up in the Hillsboro and Kilbourne communities and attended Oak Grove school.

She and her husband farmed in the Keosauqua-Stockport area.

She had been an active member of Daughters of the American Revolution and held both local and state offices. She also had been a member of the former Oak Grove and Mount Zion Ladies Aid societies. She sewed, quilted, made and restored dolls and did all types of needlework.

Survivors include two sons, Harry ANDERSON and wife Barbara of Birmingham and Ralph ANDERSON of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; one daughter, Helen ANDERSON of Keokuk; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, David KING of Douds; and two sisters, Doris RAMSEY of Birmingham and Nanette HOLCOMB of Agency.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Opal ROESNER and Dulcy BROWN; and one son-in-law, M.S. "Wally" WALLACE.
