LIFE OF GUS SCHILLERSTROM.

Gustaf Oscar SCHILLERSTROM, one of the oldest settlers of Jefferson County, born 2 Feb. 1817 in the Parish of Hy Klingly in Kalmar Lane [sic - Hycklinge Parish in Kalmar Län, a 'län' being a county], Sweden, died at Lockridge, Iowa, Apr. 23, 1911 aged 94 years 2 months 21 days. In 1844 married Inga Elizabeth JACOBSON, who died May 25 1894. Eight children, five sons and three daughters, of whom two died in infancy, and Wilhelmina, Mrs. SMITH, died June 11 1902, and one son, Olaf, died Jan. 29, 1911. Four sons with their families are left to mourn: Carl Oscar, of Fairfield; Joseph of Salina; Paul of North Bend, Oregon; and Gustaf of Lockridge. Gustaf Oscar, with his wife, came to this county from Sweden in 1846, and had remained here ever since. They were among the very first Swedish settlers in the state. In the year 1854 he joined the Baptist church and had been a faithful member ever since.....
