Jack L. MADDEN, 85, of Cantril, die (sic) at 5:05 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at Bloomfield Care Center.
A graveside service is at 4 p.m. today in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril, with the Rev. Donna Olinger officiating.
Memorials to Maple Grove Cemetery may be left at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua or may be mailed to the family at 1091 N.E. 10th St., Galt, MO 64641.
Mr. MADDEN was born June 12, 1925, in Cantril, the son of Roy and Cleo PRICE MADDEN. He married Bernita WILSON, and they divorced. He married Merle SHAW Oct. 17, 1967. She died June 7, 1993.
Mr. MADDEN grew up in Cantril and graduated from Cantril High School in 1943. He worked for the Burlington railroad in Osceola and Grinnell. He also farmed near Cantril and was custodian a tthe Cantril school.
Mr. MADDEN served in the United States Army during World War II.
His hobbies included restoring and driving antique cars and building and flying model airplanes.
Survivors include one son, Ross MADDEN and wife Myra of Bloomfield; two daughters, Ramona ADKINS and husband Jim of Urbandale and Renee REED and husband Les of Galt, Mo.; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joe MADDEN.
