Wilda HADLEY, 86, of rural Fairfield, died early today, Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at home.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

Wilda Irene HADLEY

Wilda Irene HADLEY, 86, of rural Fairfield, died early Tuesday, May 24, 2011, at home.

A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Woolson Friends Church, south of Richland, with the Rev. Harlan Van Voorst officiating. Burial will be in Richland Friends Cemetery.

Family visitation will be 1:30-3 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials for Woolson Friends Church may be left at the church or may be mailed to the church at 1005 Jasmine Ave., Richland 52585.

Mrs. HADLEY was born Dec. 8, 1924, in rural Keokuk County, the daughter of Sam and Fern FEASTER DEWEESE. She married Harold HADLEY April 18, 1951, at Pleasant Grove Church, north of Fairfield. He died June 13, 2010.

Mrs. HADLEY attended country schools and graduated from Sigourney High School in 1942. She earned her normal certificate and taught country school during World War II. She attended the Iowa Success School in Ottumwa. She was an active farmwife.

Mrs. HADLEY was a member of Woolson Friends Church, United Society of Friends Women, Christian Women United, Farm Bureau Women and the hospital auxiliary.

Survivors include four children: Glen HADLEY of Fairfax, Mo., Robert HADLEY of Troutville, Va., Richard HADLEY of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Linda BOWERS of Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; and one sister: Betty SWICK of Excelsior Springs, Mo.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother: Warren DEWEESE.
