Bruce M. HIATT

Bruce M. HIATT, 66, Route 3, died at 2:40 a.m Monday, Aug. 2, 1993, at Jefferson County Hospital.

The service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church with the Rev. Robert Gates officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home. Memorials have been established to the Lord's Cupboard and to First Christian Church.

HIATT was born Feb. 21, 1927, at Fairfield, the son of J. Alvin and M. Irene CARTER HIATT. A lifetime resident of the Fairfield community, he graduated from Fairfield High School in 1945 and attended Iowa State University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 until 1947 in the occupation of Japan. On Feb. 13, 1955, he married Marilyn J. HEDGER at Stratford. He was a farmer, an insurance agent with Square Deal Insurance Company, and was a licensed real estate agent with Hiatt Realty. A member of First Christian Church, he had served as a deacon, elder, trustee, and president of the church board. He was a member of Elks Lodge, Fairfield Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, served on the ASCS committee, the Fairfield Community School Board of Directors and was past president of the Parent Teacher Association.

Surviving are his wife; a son, Jim of Fairfield; three daughters, Linda Von WIESENTHAL of Houston; Margaret SCHNEIDER of Lenexa, Kan., Marcia Von TERSCH of Burlington; six grandchildren and a sister Darlene SUTHERLIN of Anchorage, Alaska. His parents and a sister, Evaughn HIATT, preceded him in death.
