MOUNT PLEASANT - Lula P. SODERGREN, 75, of Independence, formerly of Mount Pleasant, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1993, at Independence.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Sweden Lutheran Church northwest of Lockridge. Visitation is open today at Weir Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Memorials have been established to American Cancer Society, Cedar Valley Hospice, and Grace United Methodist Church in Waterloo.

Mrs. SODERGREN was born June 13, 1918, at Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Max E. and Stella M. ABRAHAMSON LONG. On Sept. 18, 1936, she married Wesley E. SODERGREN at Kahoka, Mo. She had been a secretary for D and D Foods for 10 1/2 years, a salesclerk at Park Paint and Glass, Montgomery Ward, James Block Department Store, and B.F. Goodrich Store, all in Waterloo. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.

Surviving are her husband; two sons, Wesley E. Jr. of Bakersfield, Calif., Jerry L. of Waterloo; four grandchildren; two brothers, Harold and Donald LONG, both of Mount Pleasant; and a sister, Lorraine JENNINGS of Mount Pleasant.
