DEATH OF AN AGED WOMAN.

Mrs. Melinda B. GALLIHER, widow of the late James A. GALLIHER, died at her home in this city Saturday, after a brief illness.... Mrs. GALLIHER was a native of Kentucky, and was born September 19th, 1810. She was married to James A. GALLIHER in Vermilion county, Illinois, December 17, 1839, and they enjoyed fifty-four years of life together. Nine children were born to them, only three of whom survive the parents -- Mrs. W. M. TEMPLETON of Ottumwa, Mrs. J. S. TEMPLETON of Montana, and Mrs. P. O. GREEN of Mankato, Kansas. Mr. and Mrs. GALLIHER came to this county in 1840, and spent the remainder of their lives here, the husband passing away April 9th, 1891. In early life Mrs. GALLIHER united with the Methodist church, and she remained a faithful and consistent christian woman down to the day of her death.... Among the earlier settlers, as well as people of later days, had a wide and pleasant acquaintance.... The remains were interred in the Galliher cemetery in Cedar township Monday, Mrs. Lewis Mendenhall conducting the funeral services.
