Monday Service For Bob QUINN

L. P. "Bob" QUINN (sic. Levi P. "Bob" Quinn; engraved on his headstone as "Robert P Quinn", however, for unknown reason), 79, retired Iowa Malleable Iron Co. employee, died Friday at 5 p.m. at the Jefferson county hospital. QUINN, 805 West Briggs St., had been in failing health since his retirement a year and a half ago. He entered the hospital Friday morning.

Last rites will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Hoskins funeral home in charge of the Rev. W. H. Ogleton and the Rev. G.P. Jones. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

An expert on malleable castings, QUINN was in charge of the furnaces at Iowa Malleable for 40 years. He joined the local firm Aug. 23, 1906 and helped develop a successful process for melting iron with crude oil.

On several occasions he was called to other foundries to supervise the installation of furnaces.

QUINN was born August 29, 1876 in North Carolina, the son of John and Virginia QUINN. He was married to Irene BUCKNER Aug. 23, 1932.

He is survived by his wife. One infant daughter (sic. Darlene QUINN, b/d 1933) and a brother preceded him in death. QUINN was a member of the Fairfield AME church.

Note: The death certificate given name is Levi P QUINN. He is buried in Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield, Iowa, in 1st.005, in a plot with his wife Irene and infant daughter Darlene. His headstone, for reasons unknown to this contributor, is engraved with the name "Robert P QUINN 1876 - 1956".
